About Us

About Us:

Established in 1963, the Dorchester County Recreation and Parks Department develops and coordinates a range of athletic and recreational programs for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike. Our Recreation and Parks Department provides safe, attractive public facilities, parks, and open spaces featuring a variety of amenities. We partner with state agencies, private organizations and local municipalities to enhance the recreational facilities and resources we have, while constantly seeking to expand our network of parks and programmatic offerings.

Our Mission:

The Dorchester County Recreation and Parks Department’s primary objective is to be responsive to the recreational interests of a diverse community by providing activities appealing to individuals at all ages and stages of life. Further, we focus on ensuring that our parks and facilities are consistently clean, inviting, and well maintained to provide an experience that makes our guests want to return time and time again.

Our Vision:

All residents and visitors of Dorchester County have the opportunity to engage in recreational pursuits that bring people together and genuinely enhance the quality of life at any age. An essential culture of respect strengthens relationships and creates bonds that inspire citizens to preserve the natural and physical resources they share. Working cooperatively, potential impediments are eliminated and access is available to all.
